Problem with allen head screws on Office Max computer office chair?
I bought a high back mesh chair from Office Max last night. However, upon assembling the back of the chair to the seat via the arm rest bar, both of the allen head screws that went into the top opening of the back of chair got stuck at about 3/4ths (it was hard getting those screws in anyways) of the way in and I ended up stripped the heads by trying to get it to go any further. The chair feels secure and I really don't feel like unassembling it, throwing it back into the box and driving it back to Office Max.
Allen screws are hardened so they would likely strip out the threaded base/plate they were going in.
Did you use your own 'Allen' keys?
They sometimes furnish specific keys for the screws, and it's possible they were "TorX" which look like Allen, but are different just enough (more star shaped), to give the 'feel' of being properly seated, but in fact do just what you had happen: they spin out & strip the 'star' slots.
Go through the packing material and verify the entire manifest.
Self tapping bolts may have to be used to clean up the holes if the threads got wiped out.
